In little more than a month, the latest vintage of our 100%
Carignan earned two gold medals in two of the wine industry’s most important competitions, the Challenge International Du Vin 2012, and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2012. These awards are added to the 90 points the wine received in the 2012 Descorchados guide to Chilean wine. The recognition this wine has earned to date speak to the excellent quality of this wine.
For Javier Solari, Viña Canepa’s Head Winemaker:
Genovino Carignan faithfully represents Viña Canepa’s interesting combination of tradition and innovation.
This wine is made with Carignan, a grape variety that is deeply rooted in Chile’s national wine tradition but that has only recently been used for making high-end wines.
Genovino 2009 is a deep and bright red in color with expressive fresh fruit and floral aromas. The structure is potent on the palate, typical of the variety, but the tannins are smooth due to time spent aging in French oak barrels.
